Lubet were tasked with replacing and upgrading an isolation valve and stem extension system during our client’s annual factory shutdown period. The aim of the upgrade – provide a double redundancy system to ensure total isolation of the pipework.
To ensure the project was delivered as cost effectively as possible, Lubet worked with the client to establish the necessary flow rate and acceptable pressure range. This resulted in the ability to downsize the gate valves and reduce the component costs by 40%.
Due to the valve’s constant submersion whilst the factory is operational, our client now has peace of mind that future drain downs of the 250,000 litre pit will be minimised. The upgrade also greatly reduces the risk of the isolation failing, allowing future maintenance work within the pit to go ahead with a higher level of safety.
